Did you know that YouTube actually started in 1985? Neither did we… here’s the true story.

How to confuse an idiot…

2008-07-30 by Cordula

?????!!?

Yes, I thought that, too, when I first saw this nice little trick… I’ll leave you to figure it out for yourselves. Have fun, and once you’ve got it, try if your friends will be as confused as you were at first!

I’m not here to make friends…

The Apprentice, I Know My Kid’s A Star, Forever Eden, Survivor, Hell’s Kitchen, The Pick-Up Artist, America’s Next Top Model, The Amazing Race, and Project Runway - if you have watched any of these shows for more than 3 minutes, you will likely have found that reality TV contestants usually have one thing in common: they are shameless money-grubbers.

Reality shows have no written script. Producers influence each episode by introducing new situations into the lives of the contestants. They then sit back and watch how the new story unfolds. Producers claim to be unable to predict how contestants will react; this is clearly not true. Of course reality TV producers know what will happen and of course they try their hardest to create drama for their shows. Ratings move the business, and where there are high ratings, there’s money. I’m not fooled.

I forgot to mention, there’s another thing reality TV show contestants have in common. But rather than tell you myself, I’ll let the contestants speak for themselves in the following video:

And here’s another video, more or less on the same topic…

The only difference between the two is that, at least to me, the second video makes much more sense. The chicken comes across as far more intelligent than all these people in the first video…

Blogbuzzter #3: Sex and the City, Levi’s and Pork and Beans

2008-05-30 by Cordula

May is nearly over, so it’s time again to treat you to our blogbuzzter! The latest buzz is of course the launch of the

  • “Sex and the City” film: Long-awaited, the movie will finally come to US cinemas today, and the most burning question of its fans will be answered: Will Carry marry Mr Big? Get carried away, guys!
  • Levi’s backflip: Sport is in. Not only did we get to see Kobe Bryant stunt-jumping over a pool full of living snakes, but these guys also amused us by jumping into a pair of Levi’s. Hats off!
  • Pork and beans: The latest clip by Weezer brings back all the YouTube stars that we met in the South Park video: Numa Numa Guy, Afro Ninja, Leave Britney Alone, Chocolate Rain, Daft Hands…
  • Facebook in real life: What would you do if people you haven’t met in decades started poking you and leaving messages on your front door? Hmm… reality can be scary sometimes.
  • The exotic buzz of the month: Not a pleasant occasion, but an encouraging buzz. After the disastrous earthquake in China a wave of support rolled through the Chinese web. Bloggers adopted a banner to show their solidarity with the victims, and during 3 days of national mourning all major Chinese portals sites appeared in black and white. Ever wondered what patriotism meant?

Happy birthday, EU!

2008-05-09 by Cordula

Today is the 9th of May. So what, you’ll say? Ahh, but wait – it’s a very special day! We are celebrating Europe Day!

On the 9th of May 1950 the French foreign minister Robert Schuman made a declaration which led to the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, the organisation which became the basis for what we now know as the European Union. You can be sure that our lives would look very different if he hadn’t made that speech, and we at BuzzParadise are very grateful to him – who knows if we would be able to conduct our European campaigns for you if he hadn’t? And how much fun we all would have missed!

OK, fun, campaigns - but what else has the EU done for us, you ask?

So we say: Happy birthday, EU, and many happy returns of the day!

PS: Want to test your knowledge about the EU? Here’s a fun little quiz. And did you know that the EU has its own YouTube channel called Eutube?
