Disney’s Virtual Storyteller: Duncan Wardle explains

2008-12-15 by Cordula

Today we have a special treat for you: an interview with Duncan Wardle, Vice President of Global PR for Disney Parks, in which he allows us an insight into Disney’s world and its approach to web 2.0 marketing. Enjoy the read!

Please introduce yourself!

“My name is Duncan Wardle, Vice President of Global PR for Disney Parks. I am based in Orlando, Florida.”

What does Disney stand for in the United States today?

“Disney has been creating magic since Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse in 1928. Since then Disney has come to stand for the premier family entertainment company in the world, delighting people of all ages and all cultures with its unique brand of magic. First opened by Walt in 1955, the Disney parks are a natural extension of the Disney brand as they provide families with an escape from reality, transforming their worlds into one of magic and fantasy, where you are literally immersed in the magic of Disney.”

Can you please briefly describe the campaign?

“‘Disney’s Virtual Storyteller’ allows people around the world to celebrate their friends and family’s special milestones by customizing and personalizing a fun Magic Kingdom celebration, held in their honor. Read on

Surviving meetings: how (not) to motivate your team

2008-06-04 by Guillaume

Here at BuzzParadise we often work under pressure, with extremely tight deadlines. When someone asks us about our working schedule, we usually enjoy saying “The deadline was yesterday” :D

One of the consequences is that it is sometimes difficult to persuade everyone to come to our “strategic meetings”, as people usually prefer to work on their own projects rather than “lose” hours in long discussions…

So we asked our Human Resources Manager to find a way to get people involved in our meetings. He actually came up with some new “management techniques” which have proved to be quite efficient, but are probably much too extreme …

OK, sorry, of course that was a joke, but anyway the guys at www.survivingmeetings.com are not that crazy, and they’re actually planning to help us for our future meetings. I quote: “There is a better way to get people involved”. It seems that the revelation will take place next Monday, so you can rely on me to get you updated.

Foster farms and a new version of Dove’s “Evolution”

2008-03-18 by Alessandro

Dove’s famous and wildly successful viral video “Evolution” has sparked a lot of debate and attention since its launch in early 2007. Many parodies and variations of this video have since surfaced.

In this one for Foster Farms, the focal point that is in evolution is a chicken, being dressed up to look more ‘appetizing’.

The overall concept of the video is exactly the same as the Dove film, in that it aims to increase awareness of what is done to chicken in the commercial process, and how misconstrued our perception might be.

Catchy, a little ridiculous, but in the end quite fun, this video is sure to make its way around the web.

The only criticism that I have is that it is a ‘carbon copy’ of evolution, but this time with a chicken! What happened to originality?
