Life is full of surprises. We all know that, but some things are just more unbelievable than others. Six months ago, an American discovered that he was the first pregnant man in the world!
An April fool’s joke? Apparently not. Thomas Beatie, who used to be a woman before undergoing gender reassignment surgery, appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show one week ago and talked to her about this “miracle”. He explained that the surgery had not altered his reproductive organs and that his wife Nancy couldn’t have children.

It’s not for us to judge, and after all, what’s unusual about wanting to have children? The baby is reported to be completely healthy, and as Mr Beatie says: “Different is normal and love makes a family.
