Although the iPhone is not officially sold in China (yet) the Chinese love this mobile multi-gadget device and its multiple functions such as iPhone bowling. Some even go as far as trying this on the subway, but as you can see in the video below this is maybe not such a good idea…
For most Chinese, the 29th Olympic Games are far more than a sports event - it’s a national festival. While the games are heating up the atmosphere in Beijing, people outside the capital are expressing their passion for the event in their own ways.
In Hangzhou (located in the southeast of China), some farmers have made their own replica of the “Bird’s Nest” (the Beijing National Stadium) - out of bamboo!
Frankly speaking, the final result is not so “pretty”, but it looks like a real bird’s nest anyway.
Well, just for comparison, I would also like to share a photo of the real national stadium with you. It was taken during the fantastic opening ceremony, I love it so much!
On July 1st, 2008, Bill Gates officially retired. I happened to go to Baidu (the biggest search engine in China) to search the Chinese news that morning. Once there, I saw that Baidu’s logo had changed to the one found here in this article. That’s when I realized Bill had been chosen as Baidu’s “renwu” (person) of July.
I personally think Bill made a wise decision. As the logo shows, he will step out of his role in Microsoft, and open another window for himself, likely becoming a legend in a completely unrelated field. And as we all know, Bill will be devoting himself and his money to charity, working even more with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
But besides that, as a man who completely dedicated himself to the digital world for more than 30 years, Bill now gets some time to try things he’s never had the time or opportunity to try before. Maybe music, movies, body building, or maybe even all of them. Check out this video! You’ll meet plenty of well-known people in it - Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, to name just a few…
Firefox Download Day: On June 17 Firefox launched its third version and tried to beat a world software download record.
The exotic buzz of the month comes from China again, and it’s all about the Olympic Games, of course. Some Chinese souvenir sellers have their own ideas of how to prepare themselves for the great event: live goldfish key chains. I’m not sure that the RSPCA would be happy about that…
As a member of BuzzParadise I spend most of my time online blogging or reading blogs. But now I learned something that made me interested in BBS and other Chinese online forums, because I might actually meet a special web friend there - the Chinese president, Hu Jintao.
A few days ago, “Brother Hu”, as he is called by Chinese netizens (yes, we do call him that ), visited the Chinese Strong Country Forum and chatted a little with Chinese netizens, claiming that he is also a netizen and has been reading the opinions and comments of netizens on a regular basis.
It is a pity that I missed the opportunity to chat with him directly as I do have a couple questions to ask him. But at least I know now that my voice may be heard online by “Brother Hu”.
Well, what do you think about Hu before and after this? He also added that he surfed sites outside China as well, so why not leave your comments for him somewhere, maybe you will get his feedback soon…
